The 134th session of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, opened on Sunday and will run through to Nov 4 in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.

More than 100,000 buyers from 215 countries and regions have already registered to come to the fair, as the number of registered buyers from Europe and the United States, key trade partners of China, increased 8.6 percent compared to the last session held in the spring, according to the organizers.

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative. The proportions of buyers from BRI partner countries to participate the Canton Fair has increased from 50.4 percent to 58.1 percent during past decade, and the import exhibition for the fair total has attracted over 2,800 enterprises in 70 BRI partner countries, accounting for over 60 percent of the total. This year, the buyers from BRI partner countries are expected to reach 80,000.

As a barometer of China’s foreign trade, the fair aims to promote China#39;s intelligent manufacturing overseas and global expansion on local brands this year, setting up brand exhibition zones in industrial automation and intelligent manufacturing, new energy vehicles and smart travel, new energy and other exhibition zones for the first time.

The number of brand enterprises has increased significantly, with the electronics and home appliances enterprises increased by more than 120 percent, and the industrial manufacturing enterprises have increased by more than 100 percent.

Compared to the previous edition, the exhibition area for the 134th session will be expanded by 50,000 square meters and the number of exhibition booths will also increase by nearly 4,600.

In addition to 28,533 Chinese enterprises, 650 overseas companies will display their latest innovative products during the fair, according to the organizers.

Speaking at a seminar on foreign trade in Guangzhou on Saturday, Vice-Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen said the position of the Chinese government on expanding opening-up and attracting foreign investment remains unchanged, with the commitment to further increasing market access, protecting the property rights of foreign-invested enterprises and creating a sound business environment.

第134届中国进出口商品交易会15日在广州开幕，广交会将在10月15日至11月4日内分三期举办，同时常态化运营线上平台。

本届广交会规模再创新高，展览总面积扩至155万平方米，比上届增加5万平方米。展位总数7.4万个，比上届增加近4600个。按各期、各展区不重复统计，参展企业28533家，比上届增加3135家。其中，出口展参展企业27883家，进口展参展企业650家。

“办好本届广交会，有利于向世界展示中国制造的创新成果，帮助企业拿订单拓市场，服务外贸稳规模优结构；有利于加强供需对接，促进产业链供应链稳定畅通；有利于彰显中国坚定不移扩大对外开放、推动建设开放型世界经济的决心，为世界经济发展注入新动能。”广交会新闻发言人、中国对外贸易中心副主任徐兵表示。

来自215个国家和地区的10万多名采购商预注册，预计本届广交会到会人数将比第133届广交会有明显增长。欧美采购商预注册人数比上届同期增长8.6%，“一带一路”共建国家增长11.2%，RCEP国家增长13.8%。97家来自欧、美、亚、非洲的工商机构组团参会，团组数量较上届同期增长86.5%；140家头部跨国企业确认参会，不少大商组团人数超过100人。

今年是共建“一带一路”倡议提出十周年。十年来，贸易畅通作为共建“一带一路”的一项重要内容，取得了丰硕成果。十年来，共建国家采购商到会人数占比从50.4%提升到58.1%；进口展累计吸引70个“一带一路”共建国家2800多家企业参展，占比超过60%。截至10月12日，来自共建国家的采购商预注册数比上届同期增长11.2%，展会期间共建国家采购商预计将达8万人。进口展上，共建国家参展企业占比达60%。

作为中国外贸的“晴雨表”和“风向标”，本届广交会第一期重点以先进制造业为支撑，家电、电子消费品、机械设备、新能源等产品展区规模进一步扩大，增加了3000个展位，为更多高技术、高附加值企业提供参展机会。其中，新能源展区规模增幅达172%，将进一步助力以新能源汽车、光伏产品、锂电池为代表的“新三样”产品扩大出口，促进新兴产业发展。

据统计，本届广交会首次参展企业超4900家。新品首发首展首秀活动超过200场，参展企业带来新展品约68万件。其中，新能源、工业自动化等高技术含量、高附加值的新展品数量约10万件。

10月15日，商务部国际贸易谈判代表兼副部长王受文在广州召开外资企业外贸座谈会时表示，外资企业是中国外贸发展的重要力量，中国具有市场空间广阔、供应链完备、人才科技要素聚集等多重综合优势，将为外资企业开拓中国市场的同时扩大外贸事业提供更多发展机遇。商务部将会同有关部门持续优化营商环境，为外资企业在华投资经营提供服务保障。

More than 140 countries and 30 international organizations will participate in the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing on Tuesday and Wednesday, which vividly reflects the Belt and Road#39;s socioeconomic, geopolitical and geostrategic importance. Three high-level forums on connectivity, green development and the digital economy are scheduled, as well as thematic sub-forums on trade connectivity, people-to-people communication, think tank exchanges, a clean Silk Road, subnational cooperation and maritime cooperation.

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee said on Monday that the city will sign three deals during the upcoming Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. quot;Hong Kong will sign contracts to introduce three projects with a total value of over USD450 million – whereas no contracts were signed during the second forum,quot; he said. The CE said there will be a Hong Kong session in an event on regional cooperation during the two-day forum, which goes to show how much the country values the SAR#39;s role in the initiative. He added that the 70-strong delegation he#39;s leading to the event will also have a high level participation in the forum, telling the good story of Hong Kong and updating other participants on the city’s latest developments.

香港将签约3个总值超过4.5亿美元quot;一带一路quot;项目:10月16日，香港特区行政长官李家超率领70人代表团启程前往北京，参加第三届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛。李家超表示，此次香港特区代表团的发言机会是历届最多。70位成员会分批参与全部10场活动，有16位代表团成员会发言或担任主持。他本人获邀在企业家大会、“互联互通”高级别论坛以及“地方合作”专题论坛3场活动中发言。李家超还透露，在企业家大会项目签约环节中，香港会引进3个总值超过4.5亿美元的项目进行签约。

Hangzhou is removing restrictions on buying no more than two apartments across the city, except in four core districts. People can now purchase as many properties as they want in the municipality in eastern Zhejiang province, with the exception of Shangcheng, Gongshu, Xihu and Binjiang districts where the limit remains, according to a document released by the city#39;s bureau for housing guarantee and real estate management today.

Shanghai now has 940 regional headquarters of multinational corporations and 551 foreign-funded research and development centers in the city, according to a press conference of the 2023 International Business Leaders#39; Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai (IBLAC) on Sunday. Among them, 49 regional headquarters and 20 Ramp;D centers were launched in 2023.

China#39;s electricity consumption climbed 9.9 percent from a year ago to 781.1 billion kilowatt-hours last month, according to the National Energy Administration on Monday. Power consumption by primary industries increased by 8.6 percent year-on-year, while power consumption by secondary and tertiary sectors gained 8.7 percent and 16.9 percent, respectively. Residential power usage saw a year-on-year increase of 6.6 percent to 103.5 billion kilowatt-hours in September, the administration said.

Hongxin Electronics Technology Group, a Chinese maker of flexible printed circuit boards, plans to participate in the construction and operation of a 1 billion yuan artificial intelligence computing power center. Hongxin’s unit Gansu Suihong AI Tech signed a deal with Zhongjing Power Investment Group to invest in and build an AI computing power center in Tianshui, a city rich in new energy resources in Gansu province, the parent company announced late yesterday.

A total of 1,402 kilometers of new railway lines were put into use across China in the first three quarters of 2023, among which 1,276 kilometers were high-speed tracks, data from the China State Railway Group Co Ltd showed on Saturday. A batch of major projects in rail infrastructure construction have been advanced during this period. Fixed-asset investment in China#39;s railways went up 7.1 percent year-on-year to 508.9 billion yuan.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission , China#39;s stock market regulator, issued a statement on Saturday, vowing to strengthen the management of securities lending and restrict lending of shares by heavyweight strategic investors. On the borrowers#39; side, the margin ratio for securities lending has been raised from a minimum of 50 percent to 80 percent, and the margin ratio for private securities investment funds has been raised to 100 percent, the CSRC said. On the lending side, adjustments will be made to the lending of shares allocated to strategic investors, as senior company executives and key employees of listed companies can no longer lend their shares through participation in special asset management plans. There will also be moderate tightening of regulations regarding the lending methods and proportions of other strategic investors during the early stages of an IPO, according to the statement.

Some 147 companies listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange had disclosed third-quarter business forecasts as of Sunday, and over 80 percent predict a year-on-year growth in net profits from January to September, the bourse said Monday. Of the 147 companies, a total of 139 companies are expected to achieve profitability in the first three quarters, accounting for nearly 95 percent. Meanwhile, nearly 70 percent of the companies said their profits are expected to exceed 100 million yuan during the nine-month period.

深交所公司三季报陆续出炉:进入10月，上市公司三季报披露拉开帷幕。截至15日，深市已有147家上市公司披露三季度业绩预告及主要经营数据，119家公司前三季度净利润同比实现增长，占比超八成；共计139家公司预计前三季度年实现盈利，占比95%；共计102家公司预计盈利金额大于1亿元，占比近七成。

Chinese stocks sank with other Asian markets on Monday. The benchmark Shanghai Composite fell 0.5 percent and the Shenzhen Component dropped 1.4 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index also closed 1 percent lower and the TECH index shed 1.8 percent.
